CHIEF executive Peter Jackson says upgraded lighting at Casey Fields is among the club’s wishes, after a $5 million grant from the Andrews Government was announced towards improving the Cranbourne East venue.

Speaking at the launch at Casey Fields on Thursday, Jackson said new lighting around the ground was among the club’s top priorities.

“In terms of what we’ll spend this $5 million on, we’ll be sitting down with the council very soon and working out the details,” he said.

“But with our own broad masterplan, if we put it that way, we want to improve the lighting.

“If that’s up to broadcast quality, then that’s going to have more games fixtured here [at Casey Fields] – women’s, men’s and AFL, which is going to put Casey on the map even more.”

But Jackson said there were a host of areas the money could be utilised.

“We need improved facilities and we some education-based facilities … to be able to educate kids and get them involved,” he said.

“We’ve got a lot of good ideas, and so have the council, and we look forward to it.”

Overall, Jackson said it was a “great day for Casey and a great day for the football club”.

And he thanked the Andrews Government for its commitment towards developing Casey Fields.

“We’re delighted with this announcement,” he said.

“As we’re getting better as a club and more professional, what we’re doing here is picking up.”
