With the announcement of easing Covid restrictions in Victoria, Melbourne Football Club is set to launch the official 2021 Premiership Cup tour next month.

The national tour will provide an opportunity for Demon supporters around the country to get up close and personal with the authentic 2021 Premiership Cup, giving the Melbourne faithful the chance to take photographs with the official cup at a series of free events.

The Tour will be national, however due to current border restrictions stage one of the tour will see the cup visit multiple locations throughout metro and regional Victoria.

Chief Executive Officer Gary Pert said:

“Shortly, we will be in a position to announce the Official 2021 Melbourne Premiership Cup National Tour, which will see the cup firstly visit a number of Melbourne metropolitan locations and regional towns in Victoria before taking off around the country.

“We are aware that there are a number of third-party operated events being advertised at the moment, but we wanted to make it clear to members and supporters that these events are in no way associated with the club and any player or coach involvement has been organised through their management during their leave period from the club.

“This cup is the people’s cup, and it is important for us to give as many of our supporters as possible the opportunity to experience the excitement of holding the authentic premiership cup.

“The first stage of the MFC Cup Tour will commence in mid-November, initially starting in metropolitan Melbourne before making its way to regional Victoria and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the thrill of seeing it.

“I know that a photo with the Melbourne 2021 Premiership Cup will be a dream come true for many and one to treasure forever.

“The Tour will continue in 2022, going national to ensure our interstate members and supporters have the opportunity to hold the cup at dedicated venues across the country.

“To a certain degree the Government’s Covid restrictions and guideline will shape elements of the tour to ensure we are providing a safe environment for everyone as the cup tours through the community safely.

“I would also like to assure members and supporters that the opportunity to take photos with the AFL Premiership Cup will not cost a cent, including access to the premiership celebration at the MCG, currently earmarked for December 5th.

“As part of the tour the club will work with trusted venues and sponsorship partners who will run ticketed evening events that will incorporate food and entertainment. The club will work with these partners to ensure tickets are reasonably priced and the club will not profit in any way from these events.”

Stage one of Melbourne’s official Premiership Cup Tour will culminate in the premiership celebration at the MCG, which will be a free event attended by the entire Melbourne AFL premiership side.

Further details of the Cup Tour will be communicated next week.
