The Melbourne Football Club and the Victorian Women’s Football League in 2009 formed an exciting relationship.
A number of joint initiatives have been rolled out since 2009 and a number of initiatives will be introduced focusing on developing the VWFL and Melbourne Football Club brands aswell as promoting female football and the importance of females in sport.
Just a few Initiatives between Melbourne FC and the VWFL Include:
Brad Green & Colin Sylvia allocated as VWFL Ambassadors and will take part in activities such as
- Weekly VWFL/MFC Report in VWFL Record, VWFL Website, MFC Website.
- Attendance at Vic Country Vs Vic Metro rep Match.
- Possible attendance at selected functions during the year when available.
VWFL Rising Stars Program
The Melbourne Football Club is committed to supporting women playing, administrating and developing the game. Our current partnership with the Victorian Women’s Football League (VWFL) allows us to champion women playing the game in a meaningful way, by providing exciting football experiences.
The Melbourne Football Club (MFC) in conjunction with the Victorian Women’s Football League (VWFL) has established the Melbourne Football Club Rising Star Award. This weekly award is to recognize the committed young women who play our great game, across all four VWFL divisions - Premier, Premier Reserves, North West & South East.
Each week one player from each division will be awarded the Melbourne Football Club “Rising Star” award. Players will receive a Melbourne Football Club footy pack and have the opportunity to train exclusively with the Melbourne Football Club.
Coaching Education
VWFL Coaches will have the opportunity to attend a coach the coach session at Casey Fields through the season.
Session will be hosted by MFC Assistant coaches and will focus on various areas of coaching including
- Planning
- Leadership
- Skill development
- Game plans
- Player management
LATEST VWFL RISING STARS ANNOUNCED
The Melbourne Football Club is committed to supporting women playing, administrating and developing the game of Australian Rules Football.
Our current partnership with the Victorian Women’s Football League (VWFL) Allows us to champion women playing the game in a meaningful way, by providing exciting football experiences.
One of the initiatives to reward VWFL Footballers for their efforts is the VWFL Rising Star award.
VWFL Rising Star winners will receive the following from the Melbourne Football Club:
- Acknowledgment on the Melbourne FC website.
- A Specially designed MFC Rising Star certificate.
- The opportunity to participate in a training session at Casey Fields, under the guidance of MFC players & Coaches.
- A Healthy eating tips sheet developed by MFC Dietician
