Unfortunately for Melbourne and Grimes, the talented rebounding defender has not had the chance to get any continuity since he was drafted. A hip injury and back problems derailed 2009 and 2010, and then a navicular stress fracture suffered during the first quarter against Adelaide in round seven ruled him out for the rest of the 2011 season. At his best, he is a sure ball-handler, a strong mark, able to play on talls or smalls and is a natural leader. One of new conditioning manager David Misson’s most important jobs will be to get Grimes fit and durable in 2012.
