Moloney enjoyed his best season in 2011, winning the best and fairest, polling 19 votes in the Brownlow Medal and confirming his status as one of the game’s best clearance players. Was second in the AFL for centre clearances and 16th for tackles. His form on the field couldn't be questioned, but his off-field status was clouded slightly by an early-season indiscretion in which he was temporarily removed from the leadership group. His response was so emphatic that he was back in the leadership group by season’s end. Attacks the ball at stoppages, has pace off the mark, a booming kick and is a good link player.

Player honours: 2nd best and fairest 2009; NAB AFL Rising Star nominee 2004.

Brownlow Medal: 2010 votes 7; career votes 15. Previous AFL club: Geelong (2003-04: 23 games, 6 goals).

Draft history: 2003 Pre-Season Draft 1st round selection (Geelong) No. 4 overall; 2004 NAB AFL Draft traded by Geelong for No. 12 (Danny Meyer).
