Player Bio

Following a season where he was regarded as the AFL’s premier ruckman, a severe hamstring injury suffered against Geelong in round three was a big disappointment. With Gawn sidelined for nine games and fellow big man Jake Spencer also injured, Melbourne had to fashion a ruck department around the under-sized Tom McDonald and Cameron Pedersen. They performed admirably during that stint, but having a dominant figure like Gawn back permanently in 2018 will be a major boost for one of the AFL’s best stoppage teams.
