Melbourne’s No. 1 Ticket Holder, and legend of the Club, Ron Barassi, has been named Victorian of the Year for 2009.
Barassi was hailed for his Good Samaritan efforts in assisting a woman being attacked on New Year’s Eve this year, and is one of the most recognisable and treasured figures in our community and beyond.
His naming as Victorian of the Year adds another Melbourne connection to the award, with the late Dr Donald Cordner also receiving it in 1993 and Jim Stynes being a dual winner of the honour.
All at the Melbourne Football Club congratulate Ron Barassi on this honour, and recognise him for his many and great achievements.
