The Melbourne Football Club wishes to advise that young midfielder Sam Blease has injured his ankle in an accident during his lunch break at school today.
Sam has a fracture to his fibula bone, which will require surgery. It is expected that he will miss the remainder of the 2009 season.
General Manager of Football Operations Chris Connolly said, “Sam was playing football with his mates today at lunchtime. He was tackled and fell awkwardly when the injury occurred. This is obviously a setback, but we see Sam as a long term player for this club. We will now begin to prepare him for the commencement of the 2010 pre season.”
