MELBOURNE will celebrate its 160th year by acknowledging members’ names on a specially made guernsey for its round 23 clash against GWS Giants at the MCG.

The jumper produced by New Balance came about after members had the opportunity to have their name sewn into this special edition Guernsey.

New Balance Country Manager Justin Box said it was a great opportunity for both parties.

“Melbourne Football Club has such a long and proud history, it’s great that New Balance was able to produce a jumper that paid respect to this history but also celebrated current day members,” he said.

The reason it will be worn in the final round is part of ‘Member thank you round’.

The guernsey is based on the 1919-24 version, with the thin red V.

The jumper is a one-off and exclusive to Melbourne, and will become a collector’s item.

The player worn guernseys will be available after round 23 and auctioned post-match.
