SPEARHEAD Jesse Hogan has headed for scans as Melbourne investigates the full damage to the foot injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to Sydney.

Hogan was walking freely as he arrived at Demons headquarters on Monday morning, hopeful he had sustained only a "minor" tweak to his right foot.

Coming off for parts of the third quarter, the 23-year-old returned to play out the match, even providing a stepladder for Isaac Heeney's Mark of the Year contender in the final term.

"At the moment I'm not too sure (of the damage). It's feeling better today, so hopefully I maybe just tweaked it a little bit," Hogan said.

"Midway through the second quarter I started to notice it, probably sitting down at half-time and coming out of the half-time break, it came up pretty sore.

"I got through the game so hopefully it's nothing too serious."

Hogan said he would sit down with doctors later in the day to assess his chances of facing West Coast in Sunday's must-win encounter at Optus Stadium.

Ruckman Max Gawn was one of several players who arrived for recovery, admitting he had completed extra rehab overnight as he battles a lingering calf complaint.

Defender Jayden Hunt was also sent for scans after he re-injured the same right ankle he damaged while playing in the VFL in June.
