CHRISTIAN Salem says he’s determined to keep building on his strong form, which saw him gain a season-high 29 disposals last round.

Salem gained two votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award, following Melbourne’s win over Fremantle at TIO Stadium last Saturday night.

The silky-skilled Demon said it was pleasing to produce one of his best performances for the season, when the team ended a three-match losing streak.

He added that he was looking to back it up against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

“I just want to come out and play my role, but the main thing is that we get the win. It’s the same position this week and I’m looking forward to keeping that consistency going,” he said.

“We had a good win up in Darwin and recovered well and we’re looking forward to getting out on the ‘G. We just want to get back to playing our best footy.

“Every game is important from here on in and we did a good job against Fremantle and we’re looking to backing it up.”

Salem, who turns 23 years on Sunday, said a Melbourne win is what he wants for his birthday, while the big soccer fan can’t wait for the upcoming FIFA World Cup final, between France and Croatia.

“It’s been good [the World Cup]. It’s gone quick the four weeks, but hopefully Croatia get the job done,” he said.
