MAX Gawn has moved to fourth on the AFL Coaches Association’s Champion Player of the Year leaderboard, after polling top votes in Melbourne’s contest against St Kilda at the MCG on Sunday.

Gawn was judged best afield with a perfect ten votes, following 25 disposals and 39 hit outs in his side’s two-point loss.

The ruckman’s performance sees his season total tick over to 55 votes, placing him behind Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe (59 votes) and Hawthorn’s Tom Mitchell (58 votes), while Carlton’s Patrick Cripps remains on top with 60 votes.

Co-captain Jack Viney was the only other Demon to poll, with his 26-disposal effort earning him one vote.

St Kilda’s Jake Carlisle (seven votes), Jade Gresham (six votes), Jack Steele (three votes) and Jack Sinclair (three votes) were deemed the coaches’ other picks.
