CASEY has blown Frankston away in commanding fashion with a 106-point thrashing at SkyBus Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Casey Demons 21.13 (139) defeated Frankston 4.9 (33).

The Demons conceded the first major of the match before stringing together a stunning run of 12 goals in a row to blow the game wide open.

Frankston’s Will Fordham ended the Demons run late in the third term, but the three quarter-time margin was out to a massive 60 points.

Casey piled on eight more unanswered goals in the final quarter to seal the thumping victory, playing with spirit until the final siren.

Cameron Pedersen led the way for Casey dominating up forward with six goals.

The 31-year-old looked like marking everything that came his way, clunking the ball on 10 occasions and steering the Demons to victory.

“Pedersen’s been absolutely sensational this year,” senior coach Jade Rawlings told Melbourne Media.

“Clearly he wants to be playing AFL … but he has not dropped the ball once.

“His marking is terrific and he goes in the ruck and gets his hand on the ball.

“I couldn’t speak more highly of what Pedersen’s been able to do this year.”

As the game progressed, Tom Bugg joined in on the attack adding five goals from his 22 disposals, while Angus Scott chipped in with three.

There were some stand out goal scorers and impressive performers, but it was Casey’s team-first play which stood out for Rawlings.

“We’ve got some good players forward of the ball at the moment who are able to hit the scoreboard pretty hard,” he said.

“I’m not overly phased with how many they kick, but their want to share the ball with their teammates is what I’ve been pleased about.”

Frankston made all the running in the first quarter but were unable to make the Demons pay with inaccurate kicking in front of the sticks.

“Frankston wanted the ball more, were cleaner and tackled us better,” Rawlings said.

“We were lucky that scoreboard didn’t reflect four or five goals to one because they certainly deserved to be in front at quarter-time.”

Pedersen was able to capitalise on the Dolphins wasteful start, slotting two quick goals to the displeasure of an intimidating home crowd and hand Casey an unlikely quarter-time lead.

“We set ourselves all week for what playing at Frankston looks like,” Rawlings said.

“It’s got hostility to it, I really admire Frankston for that.

“They create a good environment to support their team.”

The Demons had to lift and did, doing the damage in the second term with seven goals to none, opening up a match winning 48-point lead at half-time.

“I think our players went back to the ball with more urgency and started being a bit cleaner,” Rawlings said.

“Frankston asked a fair bit of us and we had to realign ourselves a little bit and the players were able to do that.”

With Tim Smith out of the side, the 189cm Mitch White was used as a utility throughout the game, swinging forward as a target inside 50, chopping out in the ruck and running around on the ball.

Jeff Garlett enjoyed extended minutes in the centre with 18 disposals, while Jayden Hunt had a team-high 23 touches off half-back.

Declan Keilty copped a knock to the head in the third term and took a cautious approach sitting out the latter stages of the game.

The Demons are beginning to gather some serious momentum in 2018. They played as a unified side on Saturday afternoon, outworking the Dolphins to score freely in the backend of the match.

Casey will look to make it three wins in a row when they meet Port Melbourne at Fortburn Stadium next Saturday afternoon.
