Dropped for Melbourne’s clash with Essendon, defender Sam Frost did his chances of a recall no harm.

Frost had 19 touches (12 kicks, seven handballs), 10 of which were contested, in the 22-point loss.

Oskar Baker (11 touches) booted two goals, while Tom Bugg (12 possessions) and Cam Pedersen (15 disposals) both kicked one.

Rookie Tim Smith was the Demons’ best with 20 touches (10 kicks, 10 handballs) and 10 tackles.
