MELBOURNE co-captain Jack Viney is in coach Simon Goodwin's bad books, joking he has been kicked out of the coach's box ahead of the team's important Anzac Day Eve match against Richmond.

Viney, who has yet to play this season due to a foot injury, said on Channel Seven his exuberant sideline supporting meant he would be watching the Demons taking on the Tigers from a different spot on Tuesday night.

"I try to stay as involved as I can, just keep the morale up around the group, get involved and try not to miss out on too much," Viney said.

"It is pretty hard watching from the sidelines, I do barrack a bit. I think I've been kicked out of the coach's box this week and into the stats box so 'Goody' can't hear me."

With tongue firmly in cheek, Viney said he was planning on pleading his case with influential club figures.

"I have to follow up and see if I can work my way back in there, but at this stage I've been kicked out," he said.

"I've been waiting to talk to the right people at the footy club to get it changed, but at this stage I'm back in the stats box."

Viney is expected to miss at least another three weeks as Melbourne nurses its influential midfielder back to full strength.
