JACK WATTS' bid to make a return to Melbourne's senior side has hit a snag after he was reported for charging in the VFL.

Watts was omitted last week after the Demons' disappointing 35-point loss to GWS in round 20.

He had struggled since returning from a hamstring injury, managing three games between rounds 17 and 20, before being dropped to Casey in the VFL.

Watts was reported after bumping his Williamstown opponent, Nicholas Sing, while he was in the air.

Sing was in the process of tapping the ball on to a teammate when Watts jumped at him, with his eyes on the player rather than the ball.

The umpire was heard on the coverage to say he was reporting Watts for charging as he made no attempt at the ball.

Watts kicked one goal in Casey's 24-point win over Williamstown.
