AN OUTSTANDING five-goal performance from Jeff Garlett capped off a memorable day for the exciting small forward against the Suns at TIO Traeger Park on Saturday.

Garlett played a beauty in Alice Springs, a special place to celebrate Indigenous Round.

Sporting the No.67 to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the referendum, Garlett said it was a day he will always remember.

“We just knew the way we wanted to play and we were lucky enough that it panned out the way we wanted it to,” he told Melbourne TV post-match.

Garlett, who has been one of Melbourne’s most impressive performers this year, not only starred with his goalkicking, but his pressure and one-percenter play also stood out in Melbourne’s 35-point win.

“It was nice to get the win,” he said.

“If it wasn’t for the team and everyone playing their role, then I wouldn’t have got on the end of a few, so I was lucky enough that it came my way.

“We got the job done and as long as I can put on some forward pressure and chase and tackle and play my role, then I was lucky enough to get a few.”
