PROLIFIC West Coast midfielder Andrew Gaff has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

The contract will tie the Victorian to the Eagles at least until the end of 2018.

Gaff told 6PR radio on Wednesday night that the deal was close to being done and the Eagles confirmed on Thursday that they had locked away their reigning best and fairest winner for another two seasons.

The 24-year-old had indicated all year that he was likely to stay in Perth.

He told club's website that he was looking forward to the next two seasons.

"It's an exciting time for the club," Gaff said.

"There are a lot of guys around my age as well as some senior players who are playing some great football, so we're in pretty good shape. That's just one of the reasons I've re-signed.

"The club has really looked after me since I arrived as an 18-year-old and I have really enjoyed it here. The club looks after its young players through people in the player welfare area like Ian Miller.

"It can be tough as a young player moving over and leaving family and friends, but the transition is made as smooth as it can be.

"I have been here for five-and-a-half years and it's great to get the contract done so I can concentrate purely on what we want to achieve in the next few weeks and beyond."

Gaff's holds the club record for the most consecutive games played with 113.

He would have extended that streak had he not been severely concussed in round nine against Port Adelaide, which forced him to miss his first game since 2011.

He was named All Australian last year for the first time after averaging 29.5 disposals per game. He has averaged 28.9 this season.

Eagles football manager Craig Vozzo told the club's website that Gaff's contract extension was very important for the Eagles.

"Having Andrew extend his contract for a further two years is a great outcome and a strong endorsement for the club," Vozzo said.

"He is obviously one of our key players and is important to the goals we have set ourselves in the short and medium term.

"While he is the reigning club champion and All Australian we believe he can continue to grow and take his game to another level. It's very satisfying to have him re-commit to the club."
