The standards and the way we train – it’s more game-like and more like AFL finals hardened training

REIGNING best and fairest winner Bernie Vince says Melbourne’s training and overall standards have lifted considerably.

Vince, who won the 2015 Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy, said he had noticed a considerable difference over the pre-season.

“The standards and the way we train – it’s more game-like and more like AFL finals hardened training,” he said.

“The defensive stuff has gone right up, which helps practice the offensive stuff, because you’ve got elite defence to practice against each day.

“It’s very important that they work in tandem, so I think we’re doing that well now and hopefully that holds us in good stead.”
