WEST Australian midfielder Josh Schoenfeld has capped a strong week at the NAB AFL Draft Combine by setting a new record in the three-kilometre time trial.

The Peel Thunder product completed the final event of the week on Sunday with a run of 9:15 minutes, eclipsing the all-time record set by Sydney Swans academy player Jack Hiscox last year (9:18 minutes)

Schoenfeld was able to back up his beep test win on Saturday, when he recorded the second best ever shuttle run in combine history by reaching level 16.2.

That put him second only to Billy Hartung, who blitzed the beep test with 16.6 in 2013.

All the top performers from the combine

Schoenfeld, who played four games for Western Australia at its poor under-18 carnival during the middle of the year, improved his stocks across the carnival.

His record-breaking run shaded Victorian Thomas Jok (9:47 minutes) and Tasmanian utility Mitchell Hibberd (10:02 minutes).

Hibberd also finished second to Schoenfeld in the beep test, and placed among the best prospects in the goalkicking and kicking tests in front of recruiters.

Ben Keays, who is likely to land at the Brisbane Lions as an academy player at next month's NAB AFL Draft, also performed strongly in the time trial, completing a 10:09 minute run.

The national combine ended at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, with the Victorian state combine taking place immediately afterwards.

State combines for more draft hopefuls will take place in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney in the next two weeks.
