DANIEL Cross has finished second to Carlton and West Coast champion, Chris Judd, who was awarded the 2015 AFL Players’ Madden Medal for his outstanding achievements on and off the field on Friday.

The AFL Players’ Association Madden Medal is awarded to the retiring player who has best demonstrated on-field excellence, personal development and growth, as well as community spirit over the course of his playing career. The Award is voted on by the AFL Players’ Association Board, as well as past Madden Medal winners.

With a stellar on-field career including 279 games, two Brownlow Medals, six All-Australian appointments, five club best and fairests and two AFL Players’ MVP Awards, Judd has also been committed to ongoing community engagement and personal development.

This year’s poll saw Judd take out the award ahead of Cross and Fremantle’s Luke McPharlin, who rounded out the top three.

Judd is the first Carlton and West Coast player to take out the Madden Medal in the nine-year history of the award.

Other players nominated for the Madden Medal this year were Dustin Fletcher (Essendon), Paul Chapman (Essendon), Kane Cornes (Port Adelaide) and Chris Newman (Richmond).
