SKIPPER Nathan Jones says he had full faith his side wouldn’t fall away after being on the receiving end of 105-point loss in round seven, when it took on the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Sunday.

Although Jones acknowledged losing to Hawthorn was “a real kick” to the team, he said he had the confidence it would bounce back strongly against the Dogs – and it did with a 39-point win.

“The group copped a bit of a hiding and really got shown the level that the top teams are at, playing Sydney, Freo and Hawthorn,” he said.

“I thought the resilience that the group showed in terms of getting back on track, particularly after the Hawthorn belting, is a real sign of how far we’ve come.

“Credit to the coaches and the footy department staff in setting the week up to keep the guys’ fresh and build back a bit of confidence.

“It was exciting the way we bounced back yesterday (Sunday).”

Jones said experienced Demons like Jack Grimes, Lynden Dunn and Colin Garland had a real focus of moving on from losses like the one to Hawthorn.

“It’s about being able to move on from it, whereas in the past it would’ve affected us pretty significantly, but credit to the boys, we bounced back and our confidence grew as the game went on yesterday,” he said.
