FIRST-year Demon Aaron vandenBerg says Melbourne’s exciting 39-point win over the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Sunday shows that “we’re a good team”.

On the back of three tough losses against the past three Grand Final teams from 2012-14 – Fremantle, Sydney Swans and Hawthorn – Melbourne bounced back with its third win of the season.

vandenBerg said it was important for the team to hit back hard after a tough three rounds.

“We’ve just got to keep doing the right things every week, so we can start producing these results regularly,” he told Dee TV.

“At three quarter-time … we got in as a group and identified what we were doing well that [was helping] us win the game – and we got back to doing that and it definitely showed.”

vandenBerg acknowledged it had been testing playing at the highest level, but he was relishing every opportunity.

“It’s definitely a dream come true – I’m not going to lie on that,” he said.

“At the moment, I’m trying to keep grounded and make sure I’m doing the right thing every week to make sure I get to play.

“[The body’s] not too bad, I’m pretty happy with where it’s at, but like anyone I get my niggles here and there.

“It’s certainly a lot higher standard than what I’m used to week in, week out, but we’ve got some pretty great medical staff around us and they always seem to do the right thing.”
