THIS Saturday’s Pink Lady Match will see the MCG turn pink in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).

The Melbourne Football Club encourages supporters of all teams to wear pink and make their way to the MCG for the round six match against the Sydney Swans.

As part of the evening, the iconic ground will glow pink for the first time, while there will be a moment of silence prior to the match to remember all those touched by breast cancer.

There will also be a mass planting of Pink Lady silhouettes outside the MCG, with all visitors to the match encouraged to write a personal message on a silhouette to show their support for someone diagnosed with breast cancer, or to pay tribute to a loved one.

More than 15,600 women and around 145 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, while 2,700 women die each year from the disease.

BCNA is the peak national organisation for Australians affected by breast cancer and works to ensure individuals receive the best support, information, treatment and care appropriate to their needs.

The Pink Lady Match helps to raise funds for BCNA, while also increasing awareness of the organisation’s work.

With the match to be held on Mother’s Day eve, the game will also celebrate ‘hero mums’, with 300 mothers to run through a special banner prior to the match.

The evening will also feature special pre-match entertainment, including a performance by 2014 X Factor winner Marlisa.

General admission tickets for the game are $25, while Melbourne members, MCC members and AFL members receive entry as part of their membership.
