It is with great sadness we advise the passing of Melbourne great and triple premiership player, Geoff Tunbridge,  7 April 1932 – 23 March 2015.

‘Tunna’ joined the Demons in 1957 as a 25 year old from Ballarat travelling down in his Volkswagon each week playing as an amateur. His dash and long goal kicking ability was a highlight in his six seasons in the red and blue and he finished up playing in four grand finals for three premierships.

Despite his slight frame he was incredibly durable, missing just two games to finish on 117 games with 128 goals to his name. Described by those who watched him play as a “champion half forward” and a “devastating player,” ‘Tunna’ was a favourite amongst his team mates for his dedication and commitment to the club.

Geoff is survived by his wife Fiona, his children Peter, Nicholas, David, Andrew and Anna, his step children Alastair and Thomas and his 14 grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Geoff will take place at the Chapel of St Mark, Ballarat Grammar School, 201 Forest St, Wendouree on Thursday 26 March at 11am. A private cremation will follow the service.
