Melbourne today met with James Frawley where he informed the Club of his intention to exercise his right as an unrestricted free agent.

He will now explore his opportunities at another AFL Club in 2015.

Frawley was selected with pick 12 in the 2006 National Draft and has played 139 games for the Melbourne Football Club since debuting in round 9. 2007.

Melbourne Manager of Football Josh Mahoney said: “We thank James for his service during his nine seasons at the Club and we wish him and his family all the best for the future.”

“In his time at the Club, James was a valuable contributor on and off the field. During our conversation today, James expressed how tough this decision has been for him and his desire to see Melbourne continue to improve. Free agency presents challenges for all clubs; we have been planning for 2015 and beyond – with or without James – and this decision now allows us to further progress these plans with clarity.”
