CO-CAPTAIN Jack Grimes says talk of coach Paul Roos’ future beyond 2015 hasn’t been unsettling for the players.

Grimes said the players were solely focused on notching up their first win and not discussing whether Roos, who is in the first of a two-year contract, with an option to coach in 2016, will potentially coach the club for longer.

“No [it hasn’t been unsettling for the players], not at all – there’s no thought about that at all,” he said at the MCG on Tuesday.

“We’re two weeks in to a 22-week season and there’s no talk about that (Roos’ contract) at all amongst the players.

“I think there are a fair few things to think about after the weekend, so that hasn’t even crossed the players’ minds, I wouldn’t have thought.”

Grimes said after a positive summer at the club that last round’s 93-point loss to the West Coast Eagles at the MCG was extremely frustrating.

“As a whole footy club, we were so disappointed with the result on the weekend and yesterday we had a pretty long review and there was a lot of discussion about it,” he said.

“It’s not going to be one of those performances we accept as a footy club – there’s going to be some changes this week and there has to be.

“We can’t keep accepting performances like that, moving forward as a footy club.”

Grimes said it was up to the players to turn its situation around, starting with this Sunday’s clash against Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium.

“The things you take out of the game – we had a lot of skill errors and I think it’s just the basics and some of the players aren’t doing it as consistently as they need to at this level,” he said.

“We just need to pick blokes that are going to do that consistently and it may throw the team a little bit, but so be it.

“We just want guys who are going to be living the trademark and living the values that we need out on the footy field this week.”
