Dean Bailey - Senior Coach
After an extensive selection process, Dean Bailey was appointed senior coach of the Melbourne Football Club in September 2007. Bailey, aged 40, started his football career as a player with Essendon, where he played 53 games between 1987 and 1992.  He then played an additional 60 games with Glenelg in the SANFL.

Bailey started his coaching career at Mount Gravatt in Queensland, where he spent two years as senior coach before accepting the position of development coach at Essendon between 1999 and 2001.  Bailey then moved to Port Adelaide as assistant coach at the start of the 2002 season.  He spent six years at Port Adelaide during a time in which the club played in five final series, including a premiership and two preliminary finals.

Dean now faces the exciting challenge of leading the Melbourne Football Club into its 150th year, and with his wide reaching experience, will bring a new era to the Club.

Josh Mahoney - Assistant Coach
Fresh out of football, Josh Mahoney was appointed Assistant Coach at the Club for the 2008 season. Over his 10-year playing career, Mahoney played 97 matches for three clubs - Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs and Collingwood. He was a member of the victorious Port Adelaide Premiership side in 2004, and played under newly appointed Melbourne Coach Dean Bailey. Mahoney will be in charge of the Club’s forward line.

  Sean Wellman - Assistant Coach
During his 12 year playing career, Sean played 212 games with both Adelaide and Essendon. He was a member of the 2000 Essendon premiership side, and was an All Australian on two occasions (1998 and 2001) as well as an International Rules representative. Since retiring as a player, Sean has spent the past two years at the Western Bulldogs as an Assistant Coach. Sean brings with him a wealth of playing experience in the backline area, and will be an excellent teaching resource and mentor for the Club’s backline.

  Mark Williams - Assistant Coach
Having successfully coached Sandringham to three flags 2004, 2005 and 2006. Williams took on a new challenge and in 2008 was appointed as Development Coach at MELBOURNEfc. His involvement in the game encompasses a wide range of coaching roles, as well as playing experience with Sandringham, Footscray and Carlton.  He was Assistant coach of the VFL state side from 2001 and 2004, before taking on the senior role. Williams was also senior coach of the Northern Bullants between 1998 and 2003.
   
Scott West - Midfield Coach
After joining the Demons in 2009 as assistant midfield coach in a part-time capacity, West will now join Mark Williams in 2010 as a fulltime coach, aiming to continue the growth of our young midfield, and specialising in the stoppage area of the game. In his nineteen years at the Western Bulldogs, West established himself as one of the great players of the competition over his 324-game career. He amassed an amazing seven Club Best and Fairest awards, and twice - 2000 and 2006 - was runner-up for the Brownlow. West was also named All Australian on five occasions.
   
 
Kelly O’Donnell – Development Coach
A former Melbourne player, O’Donnell was appointed Development Coach at the conclusion of the 2007 season.  Renowned for his dedicated attitude towards his football, O’Donnell played 80 games and kicked 67 goals for the Club between 1979 and 1984.  He then became the senior coach of the Murray Bushrangers between 1993 and 2000, taking the side to finals in six seasons, and winning the premiership in 1998.  O’Donnell then joined the Fremantle Dockers, where he spent seven years as assistant coach, serving both the forward line and the midfield.  He now returns home to the Melbourne Football Club, and will play a vital role in the development of the playing list.
   
  David Dunbar - Innovations Coach
Appointed at the beginning of 2008, David Dunbar joined Melbourne as its full-time Innovations Coach. Dunbar is highly regarded in football circles, with an extensive football resume to his credit.  He coached Port Melbourne in the VFL from 2000 to 2003, was based in Melbourne working for Fremantle in recruiting and opposition analysis in 2004, and most recently coached East Fremantle in the WAFL for three seasons.
   

Chris Connolly - General Manager, Football Operations
Appointed as Melbourne’s General Manager, Football Operations at the end of the 2007 season, Connolly has a Bachelor of Education majoring in physical education, and has strong networks in the football, business, cricket, basketball and mental skills areas. A Life Member of the Melbourne Football Club, Connolly played 83 games between 1982 and 1991 before entering the coaching arena as Coach of the Eastern Ranges from 1992 to 1996.  He then went on to reserves and senior assistant coaching roles at Hawthorn from 1996 to 2001, before taking the position of Senior Coach at Fremantle from 2002 to 2007.

   
 

Tim Harrington - General Manager, List Management
Tim came to Melbourne with a great pedigree, having been actively involved in AFL football since 1982 as a player, assistant coach and senior administrator. Harrington was appointed to the newly created position of General Manager – List Management.

In close collaboration with Dean Bailey and Chris Connolly, Tim will oversee all strategic list management decisions, including developing a five year football plan.  He will also develop and manage long-term TPP/player-payment strategies, and facilitate sound decision making for the Club's recruiting strategies.

Before joining Melbourne, Tim worked at the North Melbourne Football Club for seven years, where he held a number of senior roles within the football department, most recently as their List Manager.
