On 2 June 2009, Council, Melbourne Football Club (MFC) and the Casey Scorpions struck a 30-year partnership agreement, marking a historic moment in the history of the City of Casey.

As part of the agreement, the VFL pavilion at Casey Fields has undergone a significant extension funded by Council, MFC, AFL and the State Government.  This $2.1 million project was officially opened in April 2010 and provides improved player facilities including an indoor space for an AFL-standard gym, physiotherapy area, warm-up room, change rooms and recovery space, including a state-of-the-art refrigerated spa.The Melbourne Football Club's summer training operations, including training once a week during the football season, will be based at the pavilion for 30 years.

In addition to the football infrastructure, Casey Fields now  features a regional athletics centre and a regional playground.



City of Casey

The City of Casey is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Australia with a projected population of 450,000 people by 2036. Located just 35km south-east of the Melbourne CBD, the City of Casey is 400 square kilometres in size and is made up of five very distinct geographic regions stretching from the foothills of the Dandenongs to the coastal villages of Western Port. It is home to more than 400 parks, 200 playgrounds and more than 50 recreation reserves.

Approximately 7,600 people settle in the City of Casey each year and 29 per cent of Casey’s population is aged under 18 years compared to 23 per cent in Metropolitan Melbourne. Casey is home to more than 20,000 children aged between 0-4, therefore there are many young families in the area.

The City of Casey’s is currently growing by approximately 8,000 people every year and this rate is not expected to slow in the foreseeable future.

Casey Fields, a 76 hectare site in Cranbourne East, has been developed by the City of Casey as the premier sports and passive recreation facility of Melbourne's south east. Host to a range of local and elite level sports, as well as myriad leisure opportunities, Casey Fields currently encompasses 7 sports grounds, sports pavilions, 12 tennis courts, three netball courts, a 2.2km criterium track and shared paths.
